Nomad

Nomad was a bit of a revelation for me when it opened – or, at least, a change from the norm. Right in the heart of the souks, overlooking Place des Epices (also known as Place Rahba Ladima), it stood out both for it’s menu and general ambience, which was more contemporary than most around. It also had an alcohol licence; as mentioned elsewhere, licensing laws are (seemingly) arbitrary within the medina. Somewhere will have one one week and not the next [insert shrugging emoji].

Anyway, my experience is that the food is consistently good, interesting and reasonably priced. I particularly enjoy it for lunch, where you can have a selection of starters for sharing, including a fab range of salads, and combine with some of their pastries, including the amazing Tunisian Brik. Can’t be sure re vegan options, but I’d say that it’s pretty good for vegetarians.

As with anywhere within the souks and medina, can be a little tricky to find, but it’s really worth the effort. Nice if they got the booze back though!
