Not quite sure what to say about L’Envers, which is kind of a dive bar, I guess, and just around the corner from Barometre, where I was heading. I literally popped in for a quick G&T and to have a quick look as it was on my list.
It was hard to get a feel for the place as there were only 2-3 other people there, and I think one of them was off-duty staff. However, it does rate really highly on Tripadvisor so I guess you really have to be there later in the night (I got there at about 8.30pm).
The decor is interesting, though, and the G&T was OK. Only real negative would be that I think it could get really smoky when busy. There was only one lady smoking but it was really noticeable (and I don’t generally pay particular attention). That being said, it could just be that they’d not switched on any extraction/ventilation given that it was so quiet and early.
I think next time I might head there a bit later, as I think it could be quite interesting. Watch this space…
